Simple Harmonic Motion Identity
A rebranding for the Simple Harmonic Motion A Capella group I was in at WPI, for our 25th annual show
Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) is one of the five A Capella groups at WPI. For the 25th show, AC Fest XXV, the group wanted a new design of the logo that is more elaborate than the previous logo. I had the inspiration when I saw a logo of a vinyl shop online, prompting me to create one for the group.
For the new design, the vinyl record forms the shape of the letter āSā to represent SHM, which also reflects on the more classics song choices of the group. The shapes of the thin lines subtly allure to the shape of the treble clef. The symmetry of some details suggests the sinusoidal property of a simple harmonic motion. The three color variations are available for adaptability, and that red and grey/black are SHM colors.
