Carrie Scenic Design and Build
This design project challenged me to design a set with a small budget for Carrie the musical, which has many different physical settings.
The concept for this design is a dynamic set that lays between abstract and realistic style. Different settings were achieved through the use of set dressings and furniture. To simplify the settings, the set dressings were organized as following: Generic High School, Gym/Locker Room/Soccer Field, Streets, and House.
There are four main set pieces that are movable. Three of them can form a semi-hexagon or other shapes as desired. The fourth piece is the Prayer Closet. To ensure these set pieces can be used in different scenes to show different settings, a brick pattern was used on all of them, as brick can be used for both indoors and outdoors environments.
