Black Comedy Scenic Design and Build

My first experience as a Scenic Designer, designing a late 60s apartment in the UK for the play Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer.

For every single theatre shows I have watched, I was always impressed by the set designs that made the experience so lively. Thus, I decided to familiarize myself with the scenic department through the role of Scenic Designer.

This comedic play Black Comedy is set in the UK in the late 60s, about a poor artist named Brinsley. With such context, I drew my inspirations from the movies: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), and A Clockwork Orange (1971). The most noticeable feature of the set I designed is the use of geometric design, and pop colors. As Brinsley's art is not conventional, these two elements complement his characterization, as well as connects to the Hippie culture that was born during that time period.

Total budget spent: $1,019.20
